Energy Consumption

At FRISA we implement measures to reduce our consumption of natural resources and minimize our associated carbon footprint, with a special emphasis on energy efficiency.

We aim to reduce the energy intensity of our portfolio by implementing more efficient technologies:

  • Capacitor banks
  • LED lighting
  • Solar panels

Electricity Consumption Year over Year

  • Common areas
  • 2023: no breakdown published

The increase mainly reflects wider measurement: reported floor area went from 43% of occupied m2 in 2024 to 54% in 2025. The tenant / common-area breakdown is only published from 2024 onwards. Source: Sustainable Annual Reports 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Below are some of the widely recognized standards and methodologies used to evaluate and measure energy consumption:

Water

At FRISA we manage water responsibly and efficiently across all operations. Our priority is to reduce the environmental impact of this vital and scarce resource by optimizing processes and raising awareness among our employees.

We have maintained strict control over consumption in each operational area. The source of the water we consume has shifted year over year: reliance on water tankers is falling while the municipal network and our own wells grow.

In 2025, 85,398 m3 were reused and discharges totaled 53,069 m3. Shopping centers only. Source: Sustainable Annual Reports 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Water Capture and Treatment

We have begun implementing key projects at some of our shopping centers, a significant step toward a more sustainable future:

  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Water purification facilities
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
Contribution of water projects: 24 rainwater harvesting projects with 18,208 m3 of piping, 3 water purification plants treating 75,419 cubic meters per year, and 9 wastewater treatment plants with a capacity of 11,575 m3 per year. Figures for the Commercial Segment.

Waste Management

At FRISA we adopt sustainable practices throughout our operations to minimize our environmental impact. We focus on the efficient management of waste, reducing its generation and ensuring its proper disposal.

We implement monitoring and control processes to measure and quantify the waste we generate, which helps us identify areas for improvement and set targets. This is how the figures recorded at our shopping centers have evolved:

Waste Generation Year over Year

Metric tons per year

The jump from 2023 to 2024 reflects the roll-out of the monitoring system, which widened the number of centers and records measured. Source: Sustainable Annual Reports 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Operaciones FRISA

We promote a culture of sustainability through reduction, reuse, and recycling practices, to cut the waste sent to landfills and advance a circular economy. We work with suppliers and contractors to extend these practices across the supply chain.

Carbon Footprint

In February 2025 we signed on to BONO2, a platform specialized in greenhouse gas emissions management. With it we calculated the carbon footprint of the Shopping Center Division and rebuilt the historical series.

Emissions by year

Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

  • Scope 1 — direct emissions
  • Scope 2 — purchased electricity

2023 and 2024 only include scope 2, calculated retroactively in 2025, which is why those bars show a single colour. Source: 2025 Sustainable Annual Report.

2025 emissions intensity

10.48 kgCO2e/m2

  • Scope 1 10.92%
  • Scope 2 89.08%

Every square meter of the Shopping Center Division emitted 10.48 kg of CO2 equivalent. Scope 2, which covers purchased electricity, accounts for almost nine out of every ten kilograms.

Social

Volunteering

We promote volunteering programs that strengthen our social and environmental commitment: community activities, reforestation days, restoration of natural areas, and solidarity campaigns that bring together employees, families, and partners.

At the Parque Natural La Cañada we organize environmental volunteer days with employees, neighboring communities, and strategic partners, to promote ecosystem conservation in a unique natural space within Mexico City.

Volunteers take part in soil restoration work, land leveling, and gully control, contributing to the preservation of the forest and the Magdalena River.

The programs also generate direct social benefits: they create temporary jobs for residents of nearby communities and foster social inclusion.

Mundo Verde

The volunteer program in San Antonio Bata brings together FRISA employees, their families, and the community to restore natural areas through reforestation. Each event brings together employees and guests, adults and children, working as a team.

Thanks to this collective effort, temporary jobs are created, educational programs on fire prevention are delivered, and trees are planted that contribute to carbon capture, while also reducing waste by avoiding the use of disposable containers.

Our Employees

At Grupo FRISA, our employees are the driving force behind our success and the enablers of our business objectives. Their talent, dedication, and commitment are essential pillars of our competitiveness and sustainable growth.
