At FRISA, we recognize the importance of implementing measures to reduce our consumption of natural resources and minimize our associated carbon footprint. As part of our firm commitment to sustainability, we have placed special emphasis on improving energy efficiency. In 2024, the Company recorded a total diesel and gasoline consumption of 492 GJ and 117 GJ, respectively, and below we provide detailed information regarding our use of this resource during the period.
One of the Company’s goals is to reduce energy intensity across the properties in our portfolio. To this end, we continue to implement more efficient technologies in our operations, including the use of capacitor banks, LED lighting, and solar panels at selected shopping centers. Below are the energy consumption figures for 2024:
Below are some of the widely recognized standards and methodologies used to evaluate and measure energy consumption:
At FRISA, we deeply value water as a vital and scarce resource. As part of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, we continuously strive to manage water consumption responsibly and efficiently across all operations. Our priority is to reduce the environmental impact associated with water use by optimizing processes and raising awareness among our employees about the importance of responsible consumption.
It is worth noting that during 2024, 67% of the water consumed was acquired through water tankers, while the remaining 31% came from the municipal network and wells. We have maintained strict control over consumption in each of our operational areas, and below we present the results in a transparent and detailed manner:
In line with our commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices, we have begun implementing key projects at some of our shopping centers: the installation of wastewater treatment plants, water purification facilities, and rainwater harvesting systems. Our investment in treatment and capture systems represents a significant step toward a more sustainable and responsible future.
The following is a summary of the contributions of these projects as of the end of 2024:
At FRISA, we have fully embraced the importance of adopting sustainable practices throughout our operations, with the firm objective of minimizing our environmental impact. As part of our commitment to corporate responsibility, we focus on the efficient management of waste, aiming to reduce its generation and ensure its proper disposal.
We are implementing monitoring and control processes to measure and quantify the waste generated during our operations. These efforts have provided valuable insights that help us identify areas for improvement and set targets for continuously enhancing our environmental performance. Regarding the waste generated at our shopping centers, the following figures were recorded in 2024:
In addition, we seek to promote a culture of sustainability across all operations by implementing reduction, reuse, and recycling practices. Our goal is to significantly reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and promote a circular economy. To this end, we aim to work closely with our suppliers and contractors to drive the adoption of sustainable practices throughout the supply chain. The synergy among all these actions will allow us to move forward with determination toward a more sustainable future.
At Grupo FRISA, we promote volunteering programs that strengthen our social and environmental commitment. Through community activities, reforestation days, restoration of natural areas, and solidarity campaigns, we seek to generate a positive impact on the environment and the communities where we operate. These volunteer initiatives provide an opportunity to bring together employees, families, and partners in actions that foster inclusion, education, and sustainable development.
At the Parque Natural La Cañada, we organize environmental volunteer days that bring together FRISA employees, neighboring communities, and strategic partners. These activities aim to promote ecosystem conservation and strengthen environmental awareness in a unique natural space within Mexico City.
During 2024, volunteers participated in soil restoration work, land leveling, and gully control. As a result of these efforts, 60 m² of eroded soil were recovered and 18 m³ of sediments were contained, contributing to the preservation of the forest and the Magdalena River.
In addition, the volunteer programs generate direct social benefits: more than 50 temporary jobs were created for residents of nearby communities, boosting their economic development and fostering social inclusion while protecting the region’s environmental heritage.
The volunteer program in San Antonio Bata brings together FRISA employees, their families, and the community to restore natural areas through reforestation. In the most recent event, 63 employees and 32 guests participated, including adults and children, working as a team for 12 continuous hours.
Thanks to this collective effort, 9 temporary jobs were created, 2 educational programs on fire prevention were delivered, and 1,968 trees were planted across 3 hectares. These actions are expected to capture 1,387 tons of carbon over the next 30 years, while also reducing waste by avoiding the use of more than 1,100 disposable containers.
